On September 21 the enormous workshops of the abandoned experimental mechanical plant in Vydubychi (Kyiv, Ukraine) will host a 9-day festival of contemporary art GOGOLFEST. This multidisciplinary event is the largest festival of its kind in Ukraine. The program of this year's fest will include film, theater, contemporary music, and visual art sections.
National Oleksandr Dovzhenko Centre presents the opening film of the Festival – a premiere of the newly restored version of Oleksandr Dovzhenko's classics Earth with live musical accompaniment by the iconic ethno-chaos band DakhaBrakha. The film will be presented on the 6x8 meters screen in the main stage area at 20.00.
The soundtrack for Earth was created by DakhaBrakha during the first half of 2012 on request of the Dovzhenko Centre. The new restoration of the film, performed by the Centre based on the original 1930 version, is still in progress. GOGOLFEST guests will see the first test version of the remastered film, which is being prepared for screenings at international film festivals.
