Oleksandr Dovzhenko Special – a retrospective of the most famous films made by Ukrainian film director Oleksandr Dovzhenko: Zvenyhora (1928), Arsenal (1929), Earth (1930), Ivan (1932), Aerograd (1935) – will for the first time be presented in Seoul (South Korea), in the cinemas of KAST (Korean Association of Cinematheques), from June 4 to June 12.

The festival will open on June 4 with a masterpiece of the world cinema, the film Earth, made by Oleksandr Dovzhenko and restored by Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Centre to a new soundtrack written by the musical band DakhaBrakha specially for this film. The screening of Earth will be followed by a special event – a lecture from the Head of the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine Serhiy Trymbach, the initiator of the screenings in South Korea.

The retrospective of Oleksandr Dovzhenko’s film in South Korea was initiated by the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine and its Head Serhiy Trymbach and organized by Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Centre.
