PERFORMANCE #LETMEPLEASEYOU AT DOVZHENKO CENTRE
On Sunday, July 24, Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Centre hosted dance performance #LetMePleaseYou, part of the Ukraine-Lithuania Cultural Partnership program. It was the second show of the residence’s results within the series of studies on “desovietization” through a person’s bodily sensations and performative dance practices involving five performers.
“Five dancers are preparing a revolt against their inner tyrant. On stage, they perform a public ritual that can be called an imitation ritual of “desovietization”. Made up of specific movements and transformations, it employs different signs, actions and procedures from the Soviet past and from present-day life”, explains the project’s curator Monika Jasinskaite.
After the performance, the audience had an opportunity to discuss what they had seen both with the performers and with the project’s curators Viktor Ruban and Monika Jasinskaite. The premiere of the show and a presentation of an additional special project are to take place in Kiev on October 6-9, 2016.
The next performance of the #LetMePleaseYou project will take place next Friday, July 29, at Dovzhenko national Centre. Facebok-event of the performance: https://www.facebook.com/events/1725673881024488/
The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania and the Lithuanian Cultural Institute (Vilnius, Lithuania). In the framework of the Ukraine-Lithuania Cultural Partnership program, in 2016, Kyiv, as well as other Ukrainian cities will have an opportunity to find out more about Lithuanian photography, design, literature, music, theater and visual arts. The project will also include seminars, workshops and other educational events, organized in cooperation with Ukrainian partners.
