Earth feat DakhaBrakha at CPH PIX 2013
On April 15, the largest Danish film festival CPH PIX and National Oleksandr Dovzhenko Centre will be happy to present a newly restored version of Oleksandr Dovzhenko's classic Earth (1930) with live musical accompaniment by the iconic ethno-chaos band DakhaBrakha. Dovzhenko is well-known in Scandinavia, primarily as a master of composition, close-ups and landscapes; consequently he is often compared with Carl Theodor Dreyer, the cult Danish director.
CPH PIX is an annual film festival founded in 2008 after the merger of the Copenhagen International Film Festival and the NatFilm Festival. CPH PIX managed to assemble an 40000 audience last year. CPH PIX has also a tradition of screening silent cinema with new radical music. Every year the festival chooses just one film. Thus the venerable Earth predecessors at the festival were Metropolis, The Fall of the House of Usher and Sunrise: a Song of Two People.
The film will be presented in the celebrated Tycho Brahe Planetarium which is located in Copenhagen.
